Chwilog Eisteddfod

image

Once a year the village Eisteddfod is held at Chwilog Memorial Hall. It is normally held in January. In the past, the Eisteddfod was held over two days, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

In our opinion, there is a lot of talent at the Eisteddfod, from the nursery children to the adults. Even though it has been running for a long time it is still popular and there with many children and people competing each year.

Special literary and arts competitions are set for the school. One of the main competitions of the Eisteddfod is writing poetry in order to win a chair. The children and young people of the village take part in the Chairing of the Bard ceremony by dressing the bard, reading a poem to greet the bard, carrying the sword or by playing the horn.
